New Update Schedule

Aug 30, 2016

Hi everyone!

I've noticed over the past while that these posts take up a fair bit of my time each week. From writing them, to getting the pictures, converting them, sizing them, updating and everything. Each post takes 1-2 hours to put together from start to finish.

Due to my full time job and other obligations, I don't get as much time to work on Realms as I would like to…

Android Testers Needed!

Aug 09, 2016

Have you ever thought about testing games? Have you ever wanted to see your name in the credits of a game?

I'm looking for volunteers to help test a small game that is in the latter stages of Beta. This branch of testing is for Android users, with iOS, PC, Linux, and Mac testing coming in the near future.

To apply:

  • Sign up for a Qor Concept account, by clicking…

Training Animations, Go!

Jul 21, 2016

Hi everyone!

I'm wrapping up a week that I took off from my regular day job to work on Realms, and I am getting work DONE!

I've completed training animations for all of the units except rogue, as of this writing, and that has been a complicated system. I needed to make a way for animations to cause characters to interact both with other characters and their components, but interactible…

The Flooded Cavern

Jun 22, 2016

Hello everyone!

June has been an exceptionally productive month for Realms, with a focus on unit special abilities, new enemies, and their AI. A grand total of 30 new enemies have been added, and I now have all of the art assets to create 7 new tilesets for dungeons as well. The art assets were scheduled to arrive for July, which is when development was going to start on them.

The Day of the Wizard

Jun 08, 2016

Hello everyone!

As playtesting of the early game of Realms continues, I've noticed that the overall usefulness of the Wizard hero has fallen somewhat out of scope. I made a small change to the game (though a large change to gameplay), with the result being that the Wizard hero can now go along on adventure parties! Just like any other AP-enabled unit, you can choose to include the Wizard…

Advanced Console and Interactions

Jun 01, 2016

Are you familiar with reflection? Not the act of the throwing back by a body or surface of light, heat, or sound without absorbing it, or serious thought or consideration; but rather the programming technique that allows code to self-analyze. In borrowing a short segment from Wikipedia:

In object oriented programming languages such as Java, reflection allows inspection of classes, interfaces,…

New Build UI and AI++

May 18, 2016

I spent a little time this past week working on the realms build UI. The old one was definitely a temporary solution, and needed some updates.

Two of the key goals for the new UI were:

  • Much cleaner layout and more space to see where you're building
  • 3D previews of each object

Meat Ale?

May 05, 2016

You can make ale out of meat, right?

Likely not, was my thought last week. However with resources being the way they are in Realms, food is a simple number. Whether you butcher an animal, forage in a bush, or grow grain, it all goes into the same pool.

One of the May goals is to have the Tavern system implemented. As a refresher, the tavern is where you have Adventurers come…

Saving and Loading

Apr 27, 2016

Hey everyone!

This post is going to be a little more technical than my other ones.

So as I mentioned last week, I set a few goals to complete for the month of April. One of these was Saving and Loading of data, and I am happy to say that it is working! So I decided to do a little conceptual tutorial on how to save and load data for your game in Unity, as there isn't much to…

Into the Trees

Apr 20, 2016

Hello everyone!

I just got back from a nice vacation with my family (hence why there wasn't a post for a little bit) and have been splitting my time between a few things as of late.

The observant of you may notice that the address bar of your browser is prefixed with https; Qor Concept is now SSL secured! The validation around that has been significant and time consuming, but…
